Why your next Family Holiday has to be in Donegal

When searching for that perfect family holiday destination in Ireland, you can have a lot of options.

Donegal has it all, which is why it has been voted 'Coolest Place in the Planet' by National Geographic and 'Best Place to Travel' by Lonely Planet.

If these awards are not enough to convince you, consider the following benefits of a family holiday to Donegal:

 - You have beaches everywhere, including a number of blue flag beaches
 - You have activities that will suit all ages, from watersports to museums
 - History and Culture surround you, from trad sessions in your local pub to historical monuments that tell many a story of our troubled past.

If planning a family holiday is on your to-do list this Summer, consider Wildwood House. We offer:

 - Accommodation for large families (we sleep up to 10 people)
 - Private lake access for watersports like kayaking and swimming
 - 80 acre on site forest for hikes and nature exploring
 - 5 mins from Wild Ireland - the rescue animal sanctuary and home to the rescue bears who also have their own Netflix show
 - 5 mins from Lisfannon Beach - one of Donegal's top beaches

We could go on with fantastic places to visit so here is a 3-day itinerary to help you out, aimed at a family holiday:

Day 1
Arrive and check in at Wildwood house. Spend the afternoon exploring the 80-acre forest that is within walking distance from our back door.
For dinner, book The Treehouse, only ten minutes from Wildwood House and located in Muff Village

Day 2
Book a tour with Wild Alpaca Way, a short 25-minute drive from the House and located in Malin Head. These Alpacas will be a winner with the kids and enjoy feeding them but the adults are in for a treat also with the stunning views along the private farmland you walk.
In the afternoon head up to Malin Head and explore the vast, rugged shoreline. Malin Head was a look out point during World War 1 and the markings on the land are still visible.
Back home for dinner in the Railway Tavern, only 5 minutes from Wildwood House

Day 3
Visit Moville and take in a morning of fun with Inish Adventures and their massive waterpark. Kids and Adults will enjoy racing against each other to complete the course, but falling in the water only to have to climb back up is part of the craic.
In the afternoon head over to Wild Ireland which is just across from Wildwood House. Learn about all of the rescue animals and how they came to live in the sanctuary. From bears, wolves and lynx cats and loads of other animals, the kids will love watching the animals interact with the keepers.
For Dinner head over the Red Door Country House for a real treat.

These are our most enjoyable activities in the area and there are so much more to choose from. We are happy to assist with your plans so get in touch for more information. To check availability for your family holiday in Donegal, click here.
